When did you last talk to your grandmother?

If you need to speak to camera, remember three things.

  1. Know who you’re talking to and tailor your message to them.

Q: Are you targeting a professor, or your grandmother?

  2. Speak in English, not Jargon’ish.

Q: Can you drop the terminology and talk in plain terms your grandmother can understand?

  3. Tell a story, don’t deliver a lecture.

    Q: What’s going to keep your grandmother’s attention? A “here’s how it operates…”, or a “here’s how it solved a customer’s problem…” video?

...and before you start speaking to camera, say "Hi" to your grandmother.
