A quick word… if you have a minute.
If a picture paints a thousand words, you can imagine how many words a video can make.
We respond more to videos over pictures.
Want social proof?
Name two people – a modern movie director, and a modern painter.
Ok, that’s settled.
A video combines speech, text, and images. A lone picture can’t.
But which one reaches more people?
A video assumes you’ll understand what you see, hear, and read.
But not everyone has your command of English.
Think about your own employees. Some will speak English as their fourth language!
When you dial up the detail, their comprehension slows and stops. It’s like you and Shakespeare. You hear the words (…and know most of them), but soon you’re lost. Then your brain switches off.
There are always instructions your staff need to follow. Video can be the ideal way to do it - safety information for example.
But want to reach everyone? Then a picture is the way to go.
But this limits you to a thousand words, and you need more.
What about meeting the problem halfway? A silent video. No voice over. No text.
Need convincing that it’s possible?
Watch this 7-minute short film.
Still think you can't make a powerful and moving silent video?
If you do, then let me know in the comments.
I’ll make a short video for you.
One of me eating my hat.
…and I won’t say a word.
